Mismatch Repair Deficiency as a Predictive Biomarker for Immunotherapy Efficacy
Immunotherapy has revolutionized cancer treatment. Immune-checkpoint inhibitors, on balance, showed a favorable efficacy/toxicity profile with durable response in different cancer types. No predictive biomarker has been validated thus far to select patients who would benefit from therapy. Among the candidate predictive biomarkers, mismatch repair status of the tumor is currently one of the most...
متن کاملPD-L1 Expression as a Predictive Biomarker in Cancer Immunotherapy.
The resurgence of cancer immunotherapy stems from an improved understanding of the tumor microenvironment. The PD-1/PD-L1 axis is of particular interest, in light of promising data demonstrating a restoration of host immunity against tumors, with the prospect of durable remissions. Indeed, remarkable clinical responses have been seen in several different malignancies including, but not limited ...
متن کاملRIPK3—a predictive marker for personalized immunotherapy?
Cancer immunotherapy is an attractive therapeutic option but it is currently unclear which patient may benefit from such approaches. Using the model of cervical cancer, we have demonstrated that PolyIC-driven immunogenicity strictly depends on the necroptosis regulator RIPK3 in the neoplastic cells. This proposes RIPK3 as a novel predictive marker for personalization of cancer immunotherapy.
متن کاملMetabolic Syndrome as a Risk Factor for Osteoarthritis
Metabolic syndrome refers to a set of conditions that include high blood pressure, increased insulin level in the blood, the accumulation of the excess fat around the abdomen, and increased blood lipids. In metabolic syndrome, the vast majority of these conditions are simultaneously present, and the risk of developing heart disease, stroke, and diabetes rises. Besides, osteoarthritis or degen...
متن کاملOral health as a predictive factor for oral mucositis
OBJECTIVES Oral mucositis is a complication frequently associated with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, decreasing a patient's quality of life and increasing the occurrence of opportunistic infections. The purpose of this study was to determine the incidence and severity of oral mucositis and to assess the correlation of this disease with the oral health of an individual at the time of ...
